Satellite building 16 June 2011Satellite building construction is now complete. Security barriers have been removed and the builders are gradually demobilising. The next stage is for the IMBL team to fit out the building with equipment and office furniture.

The near-beam surgery and preparation (NBSP) area inside the main synchrotron building was officially handed over by the construction contractors on 31 March. The IMBL team will be busy over the next few months with commissioning activities needed for beam delivery into hutches 1B and 2B. The satellite building construction works are on schedule for handover in July, with delivery of the beam into 3A and 3B anticipated in the last quarter of 2011. In anticipation of user experiments, specification and ordering of equipment for the animal holding facilties in the satellite building is also well underway.
