| Travel assistance for interstate and New Zealand users |
|
The Australian Synchrotron will cover air and ground transport costs for user groups travelling from interstate or New Zealand, with a maximum of three people funded per beamtime proposal. Any travel within your home state will not be reimbursed. The Australian Synchrotron will no longer book flights for users travelling for experiments. Interstate user groups who wish to be reimbursed for their travel costs should download and complete the Domestic Travel Funding Application Form (see below to download) and return it to the User Office as soon as they are informed of their beamtime allocation. The Domestic Travel Funding Application form must be filled in completely and signed by all relevant parties before it can be processed. New Zealand researchers are also eligible to have costs reimbursed for up to 3 people per scheduled experiment. Please contact the New Zealand Synchrotron Group for information on how to apply for travel funding: http://synchrotron.rsnz.org/user/funding.php Strict expenditure limits apply for air travel and ground transport. Please refer to the funding table below for maximum allowances from your home city. All allowances are in Australian dollars. Please do not book travel until you have been told that your funding application has been approved.

Accommodation
The Australian Synchrotron will continue to book accommodation for user groups, with up to three people per successful beamtime proposal (or up to three people per foundation investor allocation).
Accommodation will be primarily at Rusden House in shared apartments. Please contact the Australian Synchrotron User Office (This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it) once your flight details have been finalised and at least 2 weeks prior to the start of your experiment so that they can arrange your accommodation.
Accommodation close to the facility is limited, so failure to notify the user office in a timely manner may result in accommodation some distance from the facility.
If you require accommodation only (not sending in a Travel Funding Application Form), please click here to fill out the Accommodation Application Form.
Invoicing and Acquittals
Upon completion of the scheduled beamtime, any expenditure within the approved funding limits should be presented to your organisation. To be reimbursed by the Australian Synchrotron, your spokesperson will need to submit, to the User Office, a Domestic Acquittal Form completed and signed-off by a representative from your host organisation, along with an invoice from your organisation for the amount to be paid. The Acquittal Form template can be downloaded below.
