Hosted by the IAEA at the Vienna International Center, 21 participants from 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region attended to receive training on the design and delivery of training programs in their own countries.

The five-day Train-the-Trainer course included a mixture of lectures, workshop activities, and participant presentations. Participants were required to demonstrate what they had learned about the role of the Radiation Protection Officer, adult learning strategies, and the use of training aids. Using skills gained from the workshop, participants designed and developed a 10-minute training sequence which they presented to the training group at the end the course.

This training course is one of the main competence building tools developed to establish sustainable education and training infrastructures,  as well as to enhance radiation safety conditions by training key personnel in radiation facilities.
