Please join us for webinar hosted by ANSTO during Reconciliation Week to support supplier diversity. CEO of Supply Nation Kate Russell, Acting/Deputy CEO of Kinaway Chamber of Commerce Donald Betts and ANSTO CEO Shaun Jenkinson will be exploring the importance of achieving supplier diversity.
Kate and Donald will be providing a brief summary of the role of their respective organisations.
ANSTO, as a large, government funded science organisation, contracts services across enabling platforms and core facilities.
Many organisations, like ANSTO want to do more in this sphere of activity to support Reconciliation but face challenges.
There are opportunities to work together to deliver better economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and businesses.

CEO of Supply Nation Kate Russell is a proud Awabakal woman from Lake Macquarie and is committed to empowering her community. Kate draws on her extensive experience working across public and community sectors and is driven by a desire to promote opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples – making sure to approach all programs, policies and initiatives through an intersectional lens. Kate is passionate about engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities to co-design programs and services using international best practices to make tangible changes in policy.
Currently, Kate is a Board Director at the Diversity Council Australia and has previously served as a Director for Yilabara Solutions and Interrelate. In July 2023, she commenced her role as Chief Executive Officer at Supply Nation, the Australian leader in supplier diversity. Kate holds a Bachelor of International Studies (Distinction), an MBA and an Executive Masters of Public Administration.
Acting/Deputy CEO of Kinaway Chamber of Commerce Donald Betts, Jr. served as a U.S. Kansas State Senator, Kansas State Congressman in the Kansas House of Representatives.
As Managing Principal of Betts Law Company, he has extensive knowledge in dealing with business transactions, organizational structure, legal disputes, advocacy, Indigenous law and an overall view of the Australian Legal System.
Donald serves on multiple boards and committees. His strengths are governance, relationship building, and leadership development. Before joining Kinaway Chamber of Commerce as Acting CEO, he served as CEO of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation, and Jaramer Legal (Australia’s first national Indigenous owned law firm).
He is driven to help Indigenous communities around the globe to be self-governing, independent, and growing.
Shaun Jenkinson is currently Chief Executive Officer of ANSTO. He joined ANSTO in March 2010 and worked with the team in ANSTO Health to ensure a reliable supply of radioisotopes to the domestic market, as well as delivering export sales growth.
As Group Executive Nuclear Business, his responsibilities covered all commercial operations including ANSTO Health, ANSTO Minerals, ANSTO Silicon, Mo-99 Operations, ANSTO Radiation Services, Business Development and International business partnerships.
Shaun has a degree in Biotechnology and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Shaun has whole of business experience and most recently has focused on driving excellence through business integration, process redesign, removing waste and implementing quality management within organisations.
Shaun is champion of diversity and has driven cultural support of ANSTO’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.
